Plane, Texture, and Pattern
This week's topic is plane, texture, and pattern. In class, we talked about the influence that light has on a space. We compared the difference between natural light and man-made light. Light can be broken down into the categories of ambient lighting, task lighting, accent lighting, and mood lighting. Light can change how the environment feels. For example, an office requires bright lighting, but a living room uses softer lights. Natural light can also be manipulated according to the type of lighting that you are looking for. Beyond its functional purpose, light has the ability to set the mood and atmosphere of a space while defining color, line, and texture. Color also has an impact and works with elements of design which are space, line, form, shape, texture, and light, to create the desired visual effect.
